A Mobile Heathcare Suite for Cellphones and
PDAs CellularMD is the landmark
product in the mobilization of healthcare
professionals. Provider's don't want another
device to carry. CellularMD is the first
mobility suite available that healthcare enables
the device providers already carry: their
cellphone.
CellularMD isn't a cellphone, but a suite of
healthcare applications that can be loaded on
many of todays cellphones and PDAs. The suite
mobilizes the healthcare tasks of dictation,
document signature, prescription, billing and

applications: calendar, scheduler, address book,

Cellphones
Emerging high-end cellphones (sometimes
referred to as Smart Phones) have merged the
traditional cellphone and pager with the power
and features of today's Personal Digital
Assistants (PDAs). These new cellphones
provide the ideal platform for the healthcare
professional.

One device, many facilities
A healthcare professional can serve many
different hospitals or treatment centers in
their metropolitan area or community. These
different facilities typically don't use the
same processes and software systems for their
healthcare information needs. A provider often
is forced to use several different dictation &
transcription services during the day, utilizing
software systems from different vendors that
each facility has implemented for their staff.
Some progressive facilities have implemented
mobile options for their providers, both to
entice their provider groups and to streamline
the provider's treatment options and work flow.
These offerings have typically been an extension
of a specific hospitals IT services that run on
a Palm Pilot or MS Pocket PC platform. While
certainly the right intent, the mobility option
can instead serve to hamper a provider's
effectiveness. Physicians may be forced to
carry whatever PDA platform each hospital
offers, probably running different software and
using different standards and processes.
Unintentionally, the providers life has become
more complicated, forced to carry different
devices for each facility they frequent.
 CellularMD uses the same multi-facility, vendor-neutral approach as our provider desktop
solution, ConfirMED. The provider can dictate,
review documents, and electronically sign
reports for all integrated facilities he/she may
visit. CellularMD provides for a consistent,
unchanging interface for all of a provider's
work, regardless of the source and destination
hospital where their patient is admitted. All
of the features are provided on a cellular phone, so
there isn't another device or PDA they need to
carry. If the individual provider chooses to
use a PDA, the CellularMD suite also is
available for most PDA platforms.

The CellularMD suite of applications is an
array of optional and modular healthcare
components which can be mixed and matched per
Provider to provide a customized mobile
healthcare solution for today's healthcare
enterprise. The suite is comprised and designed
as separate applications which can function both
independently or in a closely integrated

CellularMD Dictation
Cellphones are made primarily for voice
functions. They contain noise reduction
circuitry and high quality microphone and
speakers. PDA record and playback features are
not as robust, having been included for
recording conversations and/or meetings, where
quality is less of a concern. In healthcare
recording and dictation, quality is a much
higher priority; we can't have medical terms
garbled by the dictation device while performing
medical observations and treatment.
The component-based architecture of the
CellularMD Dictation allow for complete and
seamless integration into the leading HIS
dictation systems available, including
Dictaphone, Lanier, DVI, RTAS and others.
CellularMD can leverage existing investments in
world class dictation solutions while
introducing the flexibility and power of
mobility.
This architecture allows CellularMD
to integrate with all of these different systems
concurrently, allowing the one device to work
with any hospitals chosen system.
CellularMD Signature
On platforms which provide adequate screen
space, document review and signature can be
performed while on the move. For complete and
correct reports, a digital signature can be
added with the touch of a button.
Password-protection keeps signatures and
identities safe.
CellularMD Prescribe
Providers can make notes and prescriptions
while consulting with the patient. CellularMD
prescription system automatically creates the
prescription for the patient or hospital to
fulfill. Ordering the prescription
electronically also avoids the handwriting errors
that cause many of prescription filling errors. |
